On clicking any hyperlink in Outlook message, I always
get an error that says: “This operation has been cancelled due to
restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system
administrator.” What should I do in order to fix the issue and get
hyperlinks in Outlook messages activated again.

hyperlinks do not work in Outlook 2013, users will encounter following error
in same situation:
“Your
organization’s policies are preventing us from completing this action for
you. For more info, please contact your help desk.”

Basically, such kind of issues is encountered if there
is no default web browsers set in Windows. This can occur if Google Chrome (web
browser) is uninstalled. However, there can be other reasons behind links in
Outlook not working.

a Default Browser in Windows
Windows
XP:
In the ‘Control Panel’, navigate to ‘Set
Program Access and Defaults’
Windows
Vista and Windows 7:
In the ‘Start’ menu, go to ‘Default
Programs’
Windows
8:
In the ‘Start’ menu, type ‘Default Programs’
- If Outlook hyperlinks not opening in Chrome and it is
the only web browser on the system, then it is recommended to deselect defaults
for the browser through ‘Chose Defaults for this program’ option. Now, after
this, save the changes and then again select all programs for the browser.
- If there are multiple web browsers installed in the
system, then it is suggested to set some other browser at default functioning,
save changes and set preferred browser at default again.
Reset your Web Browser
Internet
Explorer:
In the ‘Control Panel’, go to ‘Internet Options’.

For Internet Explorer 6 and lower editions,
this option will be available under ‘Programs’ tab.

For Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, and 10,
these options will be available under ‘Advanced’ tab.
Mozilla Firefox:
In the run command, enter “firefox -safe-mode
firefox-safe-mode” (please note the space).
A new window will get pop up with option ‘Reset al
user preferences to Firefox defaults’ and hit ‘Make Changes and Restart’.
Google
Chrome:
Click on ‘Settings’ button.
Click ‘Show Advanced Settings’ and
navigate to ‘Reset Browser Settings’
Click on Reset Browser Settings link
and hit the ‘Reset’ button.
